GDRFA Dubai describes Status Amendment as a service for amending a sponsored person’s status inside the country. Its published conditions include a new visa and cancellation of the previous residence permit. These are Dubai service conditions, not a universal Abu Dhabi checklist.
Extending an entry permit concerns its permitted validity or stay under the applicable rules. Changing information recorded on a residence permit is a separate data-amendment service. Ask which service matches your actual circumstances.

What is an in-country visa change?
It is a common description of exploring a different immigration permission while already in the UAE. GDRFA Dubai has a specific Status Amendment service. The appropriate service and conditions for your file must be checked separately.
Can I request a change without leaving the UAE?
An in-country status-amendment service exists in Dubai, subject to its conditions. That does not mean it is available to every applicant or under every authority. Ask for a case-specific review; this page does not promise that exit will be unnecessary.
What information is needed for an initial review?

Is visa extension the same as status amendment?
No. ICP lists extension as a separate service for eligible entry-permit categories. Status amendment concerns a different change in immigration status; residence-permit data amendment concerns recorded information. Ask which service applies before proceeding.
